SERENA - Duncan Sheik
Notes:
-Intro starts with slow up strum on chords;
-verses are basically arpeggios of chords on 1/8th notes (4-4 beat);
-For the D4(?) keep the C shape and move up two frets with 4th and 6th
strings
open AND/OR the D4 is occasionally played as Bm or D4 with a Bm by the
bass
(I've indicated where);
-A9 is 002200
-You could sub Cmaj7 for C wherever
Intro Em C D4 A9 C Bm Bm/F#
Em C D4
So what life's rough You should get over yourself
A9 C Bm
Like everyone else and enjoy The girls and the boys
Bm/F# Em C D4/Bm
And everything in between Serena, in an effortto
avoid
A9 C Bm
the things that annoy you you hide- far far away
Bm/F#
And life just passes you by
bridge: Em C Bm A9 C Bm Bm/F# (with electric riff over)
Em C
Are you gonna give up are you gonna give out
D4 A9
Ain't that a shame You've got no one to blame
C Bm
But your conscience If it doesn't makesense
Bm/F# Em C
I know that only too well So tell me
D4/Bm A9
Did it happen one day When the day that you faced
C Bm
Wasn't happening It just didn't bring
Bm/F#
Anything more, Anything more than despair
Chorus:
C
Em C D4 A9 Serena Bm Bm/F#
Em C
Se rena C Bm A9 Se rena Bm Bm/F#
Em C
Do you remem ber, morning would come
D4/Bm A9
And just like a child filled with the sun
C Bm
And the hours never seemed long
Bm/F# Em C
Where have those days gone? Beyond us...
D4 A9
Or so you would believe But I can't agree,
C Bm
those illusions Will you ever get through them
Bm/F#
And find the diamond, Find the diamond inside
Chorus
then repeat 4X jam on chorus (use Bm for D4 on 3d rep),
while solo guitar and vocal use "nuh Na nuh-na Naa na
(E G A-B B A)" riff over chords
end with four Bm/F#
